Welcome to This Old Funeral Home.com. We began this experience in April 2006 when we purchased this 1893 funeral parlor in Gloversville, NY. We are originally from upstate NY and after spending 10 years in the Army, decided to move back home to settle down. We actually found this home for sale 3 months prior to being discharged from the Army. Being our first house purchase we did not want to rush in and buy the first house we looked at. So we looked.... and looked..... an looked... at over 50 other houses. We eventually came back to this one, and don't regret it one bit. We took about 7 months to transition from the Army, find work, and buy our new home. It is in great shape, but some remodeling was done over the years changing parts of the house into a more modern feel. We plan to spend the rest of our lives restoring this place to it's original beauty. We will use this website to take you along with us. Of course we jumped right in to the work and thought about documenting our adventures after the fact. And we are doing it the old fashioned way, with our hands. We will bring in an expert where we don't dare risk damage, but this will not be one of those 6 month turnaround via contractor to sell jobs. Oh, and I almost forgot. No, it's not creepy.
We love stained glass, and have plenty of it in our house. I would love to learn how to do this in my spare time. Check this out...
